They kept the ball well and looked dangerous doing forward. However, two disastrous minutes saw them two goals adrift in the blink of an eye. Firstly, Jean-Francois was caught out of position and allowed Andy Williams to have a free run at goal and slip the ball neatly under Lucas for the first. The Haitian left-back then failed to close down Carl Regan quick enough and the full back was allowed to cross for Jeff Hughes, who nipped in in front of Gordon Greer to poke the ball into the roof of the net. Despite this, Town still looked the better side, passing the ball confidently and creating chances. Billy Paynter had the best of these, but his measured shot from the edge of the box struck the post and bounced clear of the Rovers six yard box. As the half drew to a close, the score seemed certain to be 2-0 at the break, but a quick free kick from Stuart Campbell caught the Town backline off guard and allowed Jo Kuffour to poke the ball home for 3-0. Town have looked the better side for long periods of the game and could have got one back when Alan Sheehan had a shot blocked on the line on the stroke of half time, but lapses in concentration have left them with a mountain to climb in the second half. Town again started the half the stronger side, and subsitute Alan O'Brien should have pulled a goal back, but couldn't get the ball out from under his feet, and shot straight at Andersen from 10 yards out. However, as the half progressed the home side began to look more comfortable and had decent chances to extend their lead through Dickson and Lines. The visitors looked decreasingly threatening as the half wore on, despite the efforts of the lively front pairing of Ward and Paynter. As the game past the hour mark, Rovers began to look more likely to score as Town pushed forward to no avail. Dickson could have had at least two with a little more composure, and Hughes' chip was only denied by the crossbar. A Rovers backline that had looked brittle in the first half looked solid in the second, snuffing out most of what Town had to throw at them Wilson's men did create a few half chances for a consolation late on through Paynter and Ward, but on the strength of their second half showing, Paul Trollope's men deserved the three points. Town's winning run has come to an abrupt halt, and Danny Wilson will be demanding a response from his players at home to Brighton next Saturday. The key moments from the game are as follows..... 3pm - The match kicks off following a minute's applause for ex-Rovers Chairman Ron Craig who died last week. 3.05pm - Charlie Austin wins a free-kick next to the corner flag, but JP McGovern can only curl the ball into the side netting after trying to deceive Rovers 'keeper Mikkel Andersen. 3.08pm - Jeff Hughes floats in a tempting cross but Andy Williams heads straight at David Lucas from 6 yards out. 3.11pm - McGovern spreads the play wide to Paynter, who controls well, cuts inside, but scuffs a shot straight at Andersen. 3.13pm - GOAL! The ball loops over the head of Lecsinel Jean-Francois and Andy Williams cuts into the box and slips the ball neatly under Lucas to put Rovers in front against the run of play. 3.14pm - GOAL! It's 2-0 and Williams has turned architect as he crosses from the right for Jeff Hughes who nips in at the near post and pokes the ball home. 3.19pm - A good challenge from Simon Ferry sees the ball break to Paynter who tries an audacious chip from 20 yards out, but Andersen is back sharply to save. 3.25pm - A first time cross from McGovern falls to Paynter but his header is saved well by Andersen at the near post. 3.26pm - The ball falls to Paynter on the edge of the box, but his curling shot hits the outside of the post. Town are still looking the most likely to score. 3.27pm - McGovern again crosses well for Paynter, but it is slightly too high for the big front man, who heads over from the penalty spot. 3.33pm - Chris Lines is given space outside the area and takes Rovers' third shot at goal from 25 yards out, but hits it over the top of Lucas' bar. 3.35pm - GOAL! Rovers have somehow taken a 3-0 lead, when a quickly taken free kick finds its way to Jo Kuffour in the area, who pokes a shot past Lucas into the top corner from close range. 3.43pm - McGovern's cross is deflected into the path of Paynter, who shoots powerfully into the side netting from a tight angle. 3.48pm - Desperate defending from the home side sees shots from both Alan Sheehan and JP McGovern blocked on the line. The ball is then scrambled away from Charlie Austin on the edge of the box.
