Ajose Returns! Striker Re-Joins Town On Loan

31 January 2017

Swindon Town have kicked off Transfer Deadline Day with the signing of Nicky Ajose, subject to EFL approval.

The striker arrives from Charlton Athletic on a loan deal until the end of the 2016/17 campaign.

Ajose returns to The County Ground for a third spell having struck 35 goals in just 61 games during two previous stints with the Reds.

First arriving in Wiltshire during the 2013/14 season, the 25-year-old hit ten goals in just over 20 outings before returning to parent club Peterborough United in December 2013.

However, after penning a permanent deal at SN1 in September 2015 following his release from Leeds United, last term proved to be one of the more fruitful spells in Ajose’s career after the prolific frontman bagged 25 goals in 40 matches.

Ajose finished as Town’s top scorer in 2015/16 and his fine form earned him a number of personal accolades, including a move to Charlton Athletic last summer.

He has scored seven goals in 28 games for the Addicks this term but will now spend the remainder of the season with Town.

Ajose, who has also represented the likes of Manchester United and Peterborough United during his career, becomes the Reds’ sixth signing of the January Transfer Window following the arrivals of Ben Gladwin, Charlie Colkett, Fankaty Dabo, Islam Feruz and Dion Conroy.
