Nicky Ajose was the hero for Town on Saturday and he felt his side were good value for their win.
The striker produced a sublime finish late on to put Fleetwood to the sword at Highbury Stadium and give the Reds a priceless three points in their battle for survival.
And, having surrendered a 1-0 lead away at Bradford City a few weeks ago, Ajose went on to hail the character of his team-mates.
“The keeper did well to be fair, he stayed in his goal and made it hard for me but I had an idea in my head and I managed to score and get the three points, which I’m delighted with,” he said of his goal.
“I thought the first-half was poor to be honest. We managed to contain them but we probably showed them a little bit too much respect.
“We were on the front-foot more in the second-half and the manager told us to be more aggressive in our pressing and show them less respect.
“We dominated completely in the second-half.
“They looked a bit panicky at the back and we sensed that we could get something. We should have had a penalty through Jon (Obika) and Conor Thomas had one blocked off the line, so we felt we had a winner in us.
“Any game in League One is always going to be tight and tense for certain periods and it is a small pitch at Fleetwood. They play with a high press and a high tempo and they are obviously doing really well, but we’ve come here and won and we’re giving it our best shot.
“It is massive and we were in a similar position at Bradford a few weeks ago and we managed to mess it up, but we scored at a similar time yesterday and we didn’t really look like conceding.
“That shows the group are growing.”
Ajose also lavished praise on the Town faithful who were in fine voice throughout the 90 minutes at Fleetwood, and the striker now wants to see a packed County Ground for the visit of MK Dons next weekend.
“It is a small stadium and we packed it out,” he added.
“The travelling fans are the core members and to give them a result like that is perfect going into MK Dons next week.
“If we stay up it is going to be a massive achievement and we would love to see eight or nine thousand fans at The County Ground.
“We know what we need to do and we possibly need another three wins and a draw.”
