Brad Barry was happy to have come through Town’s Central League fixture away at Peterborough United unscathed.
The defender got 60 minutes under his belt on Tuesday as a youthful Robins’ Development side went down 5-2 to a Posh team who fielded experienced Football League campaigners in the ilk of Michael Bostwick, Ricardo Almeida Santos and Jerome Binnom-Williams.
, and the wing-back was pleased to have come through the test with flying colours.thIt was Barry’s first taste of action since he sustained a hamstring injury during the game against Bury on September 17
“It was everything I needed. The result wasn’t great but it is a learning curve for everybody, especially the younger lads,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.
“I just needed to get the minutes after coming back from injury. I feel absolutely fine and when I started I felt a little bit leggy but as the game went on I felt that I found my stride and opened my legs a little bit.
“I felt good.
“I want to ease myself back into the first-team but, at the same time, I want to get back as quickly as I can.
“Hopefully I’ll be training by the end of the week so Saturday might be a bit too soon, but we’ll see and you don’t know how things go.
“It was good to get back out there.”
And Barry felt yesterday’s Central League encounter was a good experience for the club’s Academy players who were given a runout.
“It was good for them to go up against physical players otherwise they are never going to learn,” he added.
“They had a few first-team players out there which was perfect for the young lads and it was a perfect opportunity for them.
“It is a learning curve and you need to perform as well because you get noticed.”
