Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill felt Town were at their best at both ends of the pitch during the 2-0 win against Oldham Athletic on Saturday.
The Reds produced a superb display to bounce back and take all three points at Boundary Park yesterday, their first win on the Latics' patch since 2012 and their first victory away from home since February.
Jon Obika gave Town the lead following a scintillating team move which featured 17 passes, before Ormonde-Ottewill wrapped up the points with a tidy finish after the interval.
It could have been more for the Robins however, with both Obika and Ormonde-Ottewill drawing good saves from Oldham stopper Connor Ripley late in the game.
Town were also largely untroubled at the back and Lawrence Vigouroux pulled off a couple of good stops to secure his third clean sheet of the season, making it a day to remember all round.
“We needed to bounce back as soon as possible after the horrible defeat on Tuesday night against Bristol Rovers,” Ormonde-Ottewill told swindontownfc.co.uk.
“To react like that and control the game from start to finish was fantastic for the boys.
“We looked more solid and we controlled the game and it didn’t look like we were ever going to lose the points.
“Sometimes in previous games we’ve struggled with second balls but on Saturday we proved that we can do the other side of the game which is winning tackles and getting in their faces, which we did well.”
Ormonde-Ottewill claimed his first goal of the season yesterday after latching on to John Goddard’s cross following clever play from Nathan Delfouneso, and the defender was full of praise for Town's attacking prowess on Saturday.
“It was about time because I get in to so many positions where I try and pull the trigger and it’s a bit too late or the defender blocks it, so I was really happy to get a goal,” he added.
“There was a lot of rotation when we were going forward, sometimes Jon Obika would go inside, Delfouneso would go outside and John Goddard would go outside, so there was more rotation and that caused them lots of problems.
“Saturday was a good win for us and we can take this confidence into the next game and hopefully we can push on.”
