BOO Hoping To Be Back On First-Team Duties Soon

9 February 2017

Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill feels he is edging closer to a first-team return following a successful runout for the Reserves on Tuesday.

Having increased his workload in recent weeks and after getting minutes under his belt against Newport last week, the defender lasted the distance as the Reds’ Development squad thumped AFC Bournemouth 6-1 earlier this week.

After coming through that test unscathed, Ormonde-Ottewill is now hoping to push on in training and return to first-team duties sooner rather than later.

“We started really well and we managed to play some good football on Tuesday,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“It was good for me on a personal basis also to get my first 90 minutes in over six weeks and I needed that.

“That extra 30 minutes definitely killed me off and I was blowing towards the end, but that’s the whole part of building up fitness and it felt really good to get the full 90 minutes under my belt.

“I’m ready to be involved again with the first-team.

“I’ll train this week as normal, get a lot into the legs and hopefully I’ll be back involved.

“The next few games are massive for us in terms of the position we are in so it is important that the lads regroup, get it together, forget about any losses we’ve had recently and move forward and take every game as it comes.”

Ormonde-Ottewill was also full of praise for Jermaine Hylton, who notched four goals in just 45 minutes against the Cherries on Tuesday.

“He was on fire and he has been doing well in training, so it was no surprise there really,” he added.

“It was a good team performance.

“It was obviously nice to be involved in two of Jermaine’s goals as well and as a wing-back it is so key to get forward and also to carry out your defensive duties.”
