Town defender James Brophy can’t wait for Saturday’s game at AFC Wimbledon and is expecting an electric atmosphere.
Kingsmeadow is known for its close proximity to the pitch and there should be plenty of noise made given that the Reds have sold out their allocation of away tickets.
With over 700 Town fans behind them, Brophy is looking forward to what will hopefully be a memorable away day and feels the travelling Red Army will have a massive part to play on Saturday.
“It will be my first time at AFC Wimbledon and I’ve had a look at how they play and they have a very tight stadium, like most London grounds,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.
“It will be an intense game on a tight pitch but we’re all looking forward to it.
“When you’ve got a tighter stadium and the fans are nearer to the pitch, it definitely generates a better atmosphere so our fans will be key for us this weekend to help us push forward, especially being away from home.
“A lot of dedicated fans travel up and down the country to see us and they do generate a lot of noise when we go away, so to hear we have sold out is great for us and hopefully they will be able to push us forward as a team.
“We’ve had a look at AFC Wimbledon and their last few results have been very positive. They look like they’ve carried on some momentum from going up last year and we’re expecting a tough game.
“They probably won’t let us dominate the game easily and they will press us high and they will be very intense.
“It is a small pitch so we’ll have to move the ball quickly - we’re expecting a tough encounter like every other game.
“They play a 4-3-3 when they move forward and the three up top are all physical, pacey and they’ve got a lot of energy so we’ll have to be on our toes in our box.
“But we’ve been practicing well this week and we’ve got a strong, positive outlook on this weekend.”
Town didn’t have a first-team fixture on Tuesday evening this week for the first time since early September, and Brophy believes that will only benefit Town going into this weekend’s fixture away at AFC Wimbledon.
“We had a lot of games thick and fast last month and there was no rest bite, so to have a week training and just focusing on the weekend is good for us,” the wing-back added.
“Hopefully it will reap its rewards at the weekend.”
Finally, Brophy has been back in the first-team fold in recent weeks after being struck by illness last month and is now looking to help Town push on this Saturday.
“It was disappointing and just my luck really to have to come out of the team because I thought I was pulling together a few consistent performances,” he continued.
“It has been nice to be back but it has been tough. We’ve been disappointed with the results recently but I don’t think it has affected anyone’s confidence.
“We’re going into this weekend full of confidence and hopefully we’ll come back with the three points.”
