Colkett - I Can't Wait To Get Started

12 January 2017

New signing Charlie Colkett is itching to get going with Town and is determined to help spark an upturn in fortunes at The County Ground.

In what was a busy end to the afternoon on Wednesday, the midfielder became the first of three Chelsea players to join the Reds on loan until the end of the 2016/17 campaign.

Highly-rated by the Blues, Colkett caught the eye during an impressive loan spell with Bristol Rovers earlier this season where he bagged three goals in sixteen outings.

The 20-year-old has also captained Chelsea’s youth teams to success in the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League and is now focussed on helping Town climb up the Sky Bet League One table.

“I’m buzzing to get going and I really like the way the club play football,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk exclusively.

“I can’t wait to get started.

“I’m sure our luck will change and we’re here to make a difference. We’re here to do our job and show why we should be here and I’m sure we’re more than capable of doing that.

“I’m really excited.

“I like to always get on the ball, make things happen, try and please the crowd and I’ve definitely got some goals in me so hopefully I can make that happen.”

Colkett earned rave reviews during his time with Bristol Rovers this season and he’s hoping that experience can help him to kick-on at SN1.

“It was a good start to the season, a good experience and a good learning curve and I’m just ready now to kick on again and hopefully push us back up the league,” he added.

“The biggest difference between League One football and Development football is the realness of the fans, the realness of the matches and that feeling to win three points and get some goals under your belt – you can’t compare it.”

Town are in action away at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday (3pm Kick-Off) and Colkett is looking forward to a potential debut for the Reds.

“It starts in training over the next couple of days and fingers crossed I can impress and get my chance,” he continued.

“What a game it could be.”

Finally, Charlie had a message for the Swindon Town faithful.

“Keep showing the faith, keep believing in us and we’re here to make a difference so hopefully we can do that.”
