Conroy - We Need To End The Season On A High

26 April 2017

Dion Conroy says Town owe it to their fans to put on a show against Charlton Athletic this weekend.

The Reds will bring their season to a close at The Valley on Sunday (12pm Kick-Off) and Conroy is looking to go out on a high with a victory after relegation to the Sky Bet League Two was confirmed last Saturday.

“It wasn’t nice at all and what made it worse was the way in which they scored their first goal with the handball,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“Everyone is disappointed and the mood is a bit low, but I’m sure everyone will be getting ready for the game on Sunday now.

“We’ve been relegated so none of us are all smiles but we have to get on with it and we have to prepare right for Sunday and hopefully go out on a high.

“The game on Sunday is about finishing the season on a high note. Hopefully we can play some good football and give the fans something to cheer about.

“We then need to start looking forward to next season.”

Once Sunday’s game is over, attentions will soon turn to the 2017/18 campaign and Conroy is confident that Town can secure an immediate return to the Sky Bet League One.

“The goal for next season is to bounce back straight away,” he continued.

“We’ve got the players, we’ve got the fans behind us and that is our goal.

“We will go away, have a break and then come back for pre-season and start putting in some really good performances.

“I’m sure we will be back in League One sooner rather than later.”
