DEVELOPMENT: Embleton Previews Exeter Trip

24 October 2016

Town First-Team Coach Ross Embleton will be looking for a number of different things from Tuesday’s Central League game away at Exeter City.

The Reds are expected to take a strong side to Devon tomorrow with the likes of Brad Barry and Luke Norris set to feature, whilst Jordan Stewart and Jordan Young will also get a runout as they continue to step up their recovery from injury.

“We’ve got a number of first-team players involved tomorrow for different reasons,” Embleton told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“We will give some a little bit more game time and get them back up to speed and one or two are coming back from injury so there is a real variation of first-team players involved tomorrow.

“As it was before against Peterborough, it will be a good experience for everybody in a competitive league and it gives a little bit of edge to games.

“At the same time, it gives the young youth team players a chance to come in and play alongside some of the first-team players.

“Hopefully the six or seven boys that are going to be involved from a first-team perspective come through it unscathed and get more minutes under their belt.

“The target for each individual is a little bit different depending on the individual player and it is important to start to get an idea of how the youth team players can cope in the environment with more first-team players around.

“It was a youth dominated team that we put out against Peterborough last time, which was good and nice to see, but at the same time it is important to see which of the youth players can perform alongside some of the more established pros that we’ve got inside the team.

“We’ll be looking at a number of things tomorrow. Obviously we want to win the game and put on a good performance, but there is a bigger picture than just looking at the result.”

And Embleton is also looking forward to seeing both Jordan Stewart and Jordan Young make their long-awaited returns from injury.

“We know the qualities that the pair have got and it certainly is going to be a real bonus to have them both back in the group,” he added.

“They’ve trained a little bit more day by day but now it is about trying to integrate them into games like tomorrow and make sure they get minutes out on the pitch and become match ready rather than just training and improving their fitness.”
