Doughty And Furlong Recalled By QPR

2 January 2017

Swindon Town can confirm that both Michael Doughty and Darnell Furlong have been recalled by their parent club, Queen Park Rangers this evening.

The pair joined the Reds on season-long loan deals in the summer but will now link back-up with the R’s for the second-half of the 2016/17 campaign.

Doughty was in his second spell with Town having enjoyed a short stint at SN1 last season, and the midfielder made another big impact this term having contributed three goals and four assists.

The 24-year-old was also involved in every goal the Robins had scored in the opening two months of the 2016/17 campaign.

Furlong, meanwhile, joined Town in August 2016 and went on to become a consistent performer for the Reds, notching up two goals and three assists in 28 appearances this term.

Town Head Coach Luke Williams, speaking in the wake of the duo’s final game for the club against Southend United earlier this afternoon, has thanked the pair for their efforts during their time in Wiltshire.

“It is a huge loss and you expect when you have players on loan this will happen because the parent club are fighting at the wrong end of the Championship and have probably seen the qualities and the desire and the effort made by these two lads,” he said.

“We’re grateful to have had them and we thank them for their efforts because they’ve been incredible and we wish them well in the future.”

Everyone at Swindon Town Football Club would like to thank both Michael Doughty and Darnell Furlong for their efforts during their time with us and we would like to wish them both the very best of luck for the future.
