Darnell Furlong has declared that he is “loving” life with Town and is more than happy with his and the team’s start to the season.
The 20-year-old has made a lightning quick start to his time at SN1 after arriving in Wiltshire on a season-long loan from Championship outfit QPR last month.
Furlong came off the bench to score on his debut during the 3-1 defeat away at Chesterfield in August, and the talented defender has since gone on to feature in every game since.
And, speaking to swindontownfc.co.uk, he revealed that he could not be any happier with how things are going so far.
“I’m loving it,” he said.
“I was a bit nervous obviously to come in at first but everyone is going to be nervous coming in because you want to show what you can provide for the team.
“But I’ve been loving it. The way we play is so nice to be involved in so I’m really enjoying it.
“It was an attractive factor to come here because there were other teams that you wouldn’t say no to as well, but Swindon were a club that you can’t say no to, especially with how they move the ball around and the way they dominate teams.
“It is just nice to be a part of and it is nice that you are that team that people are talking about in that way.
“I think I’ve done well myself, again I’m just settling in but I really do think I’ve done well and I just want to kick on now.”
There were some familiar faces in the Town dressing room waiting to greet Furlong upon his arrival in the form of Michael Doughty and Jamie Sendles-White, which helped the settling-in process for the youngster.
“I spoke to Doughty quite a lot and I had quite a few questions to ask him just before I came, but it is nice to know a few people,” Furlong continued.
“I know Jamie Sendles-White as well who was at QPR as a youngster, so they’ve helped me settle in a lot.”
Finally, Furlong expressed his excitement at the possibility of featuring against Oxford United on Derby Day this Saturday.
“You are excited to play in any game but there is a certain feel about this one in the changing room – there is something different,” he added.
“Not that it means we’ll go out and do anything different because we go out to win and play our best in every game, but we’re definitely looking forward to it.
“I’ve not had too many experiences of derby games before but I grew up near the Arsenal and Tottenham area so going to those games you can sense a rivalry.
“So it will be an atmosphere that I’m used to.
“Playing in a derby just makes the games bigger and as a player you just want to play in the big games – I can’t wait.”
