Henry signs professional deal

21 July 2016

SWINDON Town are delighted to announce that young goalkeeper, Will Henry has put pen to paper on a professional contract with the club.

The 18-year-old, who made his Town debut at the end of last season, has signed a two-year deal at SN1.

“It’s the icing on the cake after the end of the season I had to put pen to paper on a professional deal,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“I definitely wouldn’t have expected this six months ago - I didn’t expect to play the last two games of the season.”

Reflecting on the last home game of 2015/16 when he made his County Ground bow, the stopper admitted he had been delighted for his youth team colleagues who also played against Shrewsbury.

“I was buzzing after the game, especially with the clean sheet - that topped it off again,” he said. “My first professional clean sheet. It was great not to concede. I was buzzing for ‘Youngy’ (Jordan Young) and ‘Evo’ (Jake Evans) especially ‘Youngy’ when he scored - that’s why I ran the length of the pitch to celebrate with him! We played together in the youth team and we all know how we play so it makes the transition a lot easier.”

He added: “I’ve just got to keep doing what I’m doing, work hard, make sure I’m focused and don’t get distracted and make sure I push myself this season.”
