INJURY UPDATE: The Latest On Thompson, Kasim, BOO and Iandolo

5 January 2017

Town First-Team Coach Ross Embleton sat down with members of the local media earlier today ahead of Saturday’s clash against Shrewsbury Town at SN1 and provided a fitness update on four first-team players…

“Nathan Thompson and Yaser Kasim were at training today,” he said.

“Until they get out there, touch a ball and run around the training pitch then it is not quite one of those we can call at the moment and we can’t say whether they are in full training or if they are going to be back in contention for the weekend.

“They are both back out with us and after today’s session it will be for us to judge and for the Physio to judge where they are in terms of their recovery.

“Ellis Iandolo hasn’t recovered from his injury as quickly as the Physio first thought and I know he had another scan to see if there was any further damage to the injury that he had picked up.

“He’s running now and it is just a case of him building up his fitness and getting ready to come back into full training.

“Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill is still feeling little niggles with his ankle and when he picked that knock up we thought it was going to be an impact injury and that he would be back as soon as it settled down, but it hasn’t quite turned out that way.

“It will be a little bit longer of a wait for those two.”

However, the good news is that Town have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the fixture against the Shrews this weekend.

“All the other boys are all fit and I think we’ll find now that the turn of the year has come the games programme isn’t set as drastic as it has been for us,” Embleton added.

“You would like to think that recovery of injuries and the amount of games players miss isn’t as much as it was during the first-half of the season.

“It will be nice for everyone to know after a game how our week is going to look and the amount of training time we’ve got in order to prepare for the next game.”
