Town Head Coach Luke Williams is expecting an attacking test from Peterborough United on Saturday but has backed his troops to rise to the occasion in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
In what is their opening game of September, the Robins will head to the ABAX Stadium tomorrow (12.15pm Kick-Off) looking to record their third win of the season.
Town will go into the clash against Posh without the trio of Jamie Sendles-White, Jordan Stewart and Yaser Kasim, who are all on international duty, but they could well hand a debut to Deadline Day arrival, Sean Murray.
Peterborough – who occupy seventh place in League One following three wins and two defeats this term – are renowned for their attacking prowess and Williams is expecting more of the same when the two sides do battle this weekend.
“I was on my A License with Grant and he was very impressive and I know that he’s a very bright man who knows his football,” he said of United’s manager, Grant McCann.
“He was a very, very good footballer as well and he’s had an influence on the team at Peterborough for a few seasons now, so I know that there are certain things we can guarantee playing against a team that is managed by Grant.
“We certainly won’t be taking anything for granted but I’m not for one moment thinking this is somebody who is a novice or is new to this because in reality he’s not, he’s been around it a long while, he’s been preparing himself for this job for a long while and he won’t be fazed by it one bit.
“Peterborough as a football club have been a team for a while that has really tried to attack you and that means if they get it right on the day then they can give you a thrashing.
“But when it potentially goes wrong they leave space and, as I’ve said many times, it is about balance and in these early stages Grant and his coaching staff will be trying to work out how to achieve that balance and consistency.”
Tomorrow’s encounter will kick-off at the earlier time of 12.15pm with the game being televised, but Williams is confident that the slight change in pre-match routine won't hinder his charges.
“There will be a slight change of routine. The players train at a similar time every day so it is not going to be a total shock that they are playing football slightly earlier than they normally would on a Saturday,” Williams added.
“The group train mid-mornings during the week so it is not going to be a big shock to the body.
“It is not something that they haven’t done before so I’m not expecting anything too out of the ordinary.
“Being on TV for some of the players is still a novelty but I’m sure it’s something that is going to be added motivation for them and not something that they will shy away from at all.”
