Match Winner Kasim Praises Town's Character After Bolton Win

16 January 2017

Yaser Kasim was full of praise for the character shown by his team-mates during their impressive 2-1 victory away at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

After dealing with everything thrown at them in the first-half, Town found themselves a goal down shortly after the break thanks to David Wheater’s superb volley.

However, the Reds refused to give up and were soon back on level-terms courtesy of Ben Gladwin’s thunderous effort, before Kasim was in the right place at the right time to volley home a late, late winner.

And the midfielder was pleased to have notched such an important goal after missing a chance moments before his winning strike.

“I just remember getting into the box and Charlie (Colkett) getting on the ball and getting his head down and finding me, so it was nice to put it in the back of the net,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“It was especially nice after I missed pretty much a tap-in earlier on, so I’m happy we got the win and the three points.

“We didn’t give up and the goal in the last minute epitomised that. We wobbled once or twice but we just didn’t give up and to get the win was a really nice feeling.

“We played better football and I’m happy that we got the win.

“Bolton are a very strong and experienced team and they know what to do in different moments of the game.

“But we felt calm after going a goal down and that showed, we got a goal back and obviously that spurred us on.

“It is very important to build on that result now but we take it day by day and we start work again on Monday.

“You don’t want to get too high and we go again on Monday because we’ve got to be ready for the week ahead.”

Kasim was also full of praise for the Chelsea trio of Charlie Colkett, Fankaty Dabo and Islam Feruz, who all impressed on their Town debuts.

“They all did well and there was an air of confidence around the place. They seemed to fit in well and they didn’t take themselves out of the game,” he added.

“I got to see more of Charlie in midfield and he’s got some really good movement so I look forward to working with him.”
