Murray - We Need To Push On

13 November 2016

Sean Murray wasn’t too worried about whether or not he had scored on Saturday and was just delighted to have played a key role in helping Town pick up a massive three points against Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

The midfielder’s first-half shot took a massive deflection off Morgan Fox before hitting the back of the net and the goal was later given as an own goal by the Charlton defender.

However, Murray wasn’t too bothered about not being awarded the goal given that it was his side who came out on top and the 23-year-old now wants Town to push on.

“I think you could tell by my celebration that I knew it wouldn’t be my goal but I was happy that I could be a part of getting the team 1-0 up,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“We went out in the second-half and pushed on from there which was brilliant, but I’m not too worried about the goal because three points is what we needed.

“We needed to get a goal in the first-half and it was always going to open up in the second-half because of the way we were playing.

“We could have got a few more goals in the second-half.

“It worked really well and I didn’t really expect it but it was brilliant and all credit to the boys, they worked hard and the defenders kept it secure it at the back, I don’t think Charlton had too many chances.

“We need to push on from there and take all the positives from Saturday into Tuesday.

“We just need to carry on because last time we won 3-0 we dropped off after and that can’t happen this time.

“Hopefully we have learnt from that and come Tuesday I think it will be easier for us against Eastleigh than what it was away from home.

“We just need to focus on that now and try and push it forward.”
