Norris Hoping For Some Festive Cheer At Millwall

23 December 2016

Luke Norris has fond memories of playing against Millwall on Boxing Day and hopes history repeats itself on Monday.

“I played there last Boxing Day with Gillingham actually and we won 3-1 or 3-0. It was my first game back after a long injury so I’ve got good memories of going to Millwall,” he said.

“Hopefully we can do the same thing and pick up a similar result.

“Their support is very strong but we’ll go there and hopefully we can frustrate them.

“A lot of teams in League One just want to fight but we’ve got a lot of quality and if we can take that to Millwall then we can perform really well and definitely win the game.”

Norris also revealed what it is like to train on Christmas Day with Town scheduled to be in on Sunday morning to prepare for the trip to Millwall on Boxing Day.

“I’ve done it before and even when I was a young pro at Brentford we used to be in on Christmas Day, so everyone’s families are used to it and my partner is used to it,” he continued.

“It is the same in football at all levels, you’ve got to do it and I don’t mind it.

“We’ll be in a little bit earlier so people can get away and enjoy the rest of the day.”

The striker then reflected on his first league goal for Town, which came last week against Fleetwood Town, and gave his verdict on his promising relationship with Jermaine Hylton.

“I’ve started the last few games now and hopefully that will continue because the more games you start the better you start playing,” he added.

“I knew the goals were going to come. I had been training well and I’ve done it before so I knew it was eventually going to happen, it just took a lot, lot longer than I had expected.

“Now it is out of the way hopefully I can start to push on.

“It worked really well last Saturday and I thought Jermaine played really well considering that it was his first game in quite a long time.

“He was very good.

“We played together at QPR at the start of the season and I thought we played well together.

“I really liked him from the start but he’s had a tough time. He went out on loan, did well but picked up an injury.

“He’s got very good feet, I see it every day in training and hopefully if he can stay fit then he can hold a position down for the rest of the season.

“There’s four strikers here who can play well, train well and it is always good to have competition because it makes you perform better and it is only healthy for the club.”
