Luke Norris has admitted that Town can ill-afford too many more slip-ups and has called on everyone to come together and fight as they bid to move away from the Sky Bet League One danger zone.
Swindon host Oldham Athletic in a huge game at the bottom of the table at SN1 later today (3pm Kick-Off) with every point a vital one.
The Reds have lost their last five outings although Norris is confident his side have more than enough quality to stay up, but he has stressed the importance of everyone at the club pulling together and displaying plenty of battling qualities in the run-in.
“We all need to pull together as players and it is down to us and the management team – we’re all in it together,” he said.
“It is going to take every single one of us to get out of this situation because as the weeks go on it is going to get harder and harder, but we still believe and hopefully we can start a run on Saturday that will get us out of it.
“Every game now is a must-win and we can’t go into any game thinking that if we slip up then we’ll pick it up, it is too late now to say we’ll go again next week.
“Every single game is a must-win and we’ve got to win. We’ve got fourteen games left and we’ve got to win seven at least because 50 points is safety.
“That’s where we’re at and that’s what we’ve got to do.
“We all need to pull together. We’re all in it together and we need to start producing some better performances and we all need to start digging-in, starting on Saturday.
“I don’t care if it is the worse game in the world and we win - I’ll take any win at the moment.
“We do struggle with the nitty gritty side of the game but we need to turn that around together and everyone needs to pull their weight.
“Saturday is massive for us to do that because Oldham are going to be a tough side and we know what they are going to come with – we’ve got to deal with it.
“We haven’t been able to deal with the physicality sometimes and that needs to change.
“I’m not thinking about relegation because we’ve still got a big chance of turning our season around and starting Saturday I think we will.
“We’ve got ten weeks left and it is a massive ten weeks for us now. These ten weeks could change people’s careers so it is either going to be a great time or a bad time, but we need to pull together and we’ve got enough quality to pull out of it.
“Saturday is a must-win game.”
Norris notched his fifth goal of the season in fine style against Northampton on Tuesday evening, but was frustrated that it failed to count for anything in the end.
“James Brophy deserves a lot of credit because he went past four people with about three touches and it was nice to score,” he added.
“However, it wasn’t to be.
“It is stuff we need to get right and their second goal is something we work on and it is so easy to deal with.
“You’ve got to mark in the box and if you’re given a player to mark that’s your job and you’ve got to do it.
“Everyone was frustrated.
“When we’ve conceded this season we’ve often conceded another quite quickly but that wasn’t the case the other night.
“We managed to get ourselves back in it, thought it could be another Bolton but it went the other way and every point is vital now so if we’re in that position again then maybe we hold on and get the point away from home.”
