PREVIEW: BOLTON WANDERERS V TOWN

13 January 2017

Town will be hoping to make it three games unbeaten in the Sky Bet League One when they make the trip to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday (3pm Kick-Off).

It has been an unbeaten start to the New Year for the Reds who opened 2017 with two successive draws at The County Ground against Southend United and Shrewsbury Town respectively.

Bolton, meanwhile, are currently on a good run of form and held Premier League side Crystal Palace to a 0-0 draw in the FA Cup at the Macron Stadium last weekend.

The Trotters ran out narrow winners the last time these two sides met with a late Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill goal denying Town a point at SN1 in October 2016.

STAT ATTACK:

Town and Bolton have only locked horns on 26 occasions in all competitions and the Trotters are able to boast the better head-to-head record with 11 victories to their name, compared to the Reds’ 8.

TEAM NEWS:

BOLTON WANDERERS - The Trotters could be forced into making a couple of changes against Town with James Henry (thigh) and Josh Vela (illness) both struggling for full fitness.

However, Club Captain Darren Pratley is in contention for the game after making a full recovery from a fractured ankle.

TOWN - Head Coach Luke Williams has plenty of options at his disposal after seeing four new faces arrive at SN1 over the past few days.

Ben Gladwin, back for a third spell with the Robins, has been joined by the Chelsea trio of Charlie Colkett, Fankaty Dabo and Islam Feruz and all four are expected to be involved against Bolton in some capacity.

James Brophy is suspended for the trip to the Macron after picking up two bookings against Shrewsbury Town last time out, while both Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill and Ellis Iandolo will miss out through injury.

Captain Nathan Thompson will undergo a late fitness test and Yaser Kasim will be in contention after coming through training with flying colours this week.

A WORD FROM BOTH CAMPS:

Phil Parkinson, Bolton Wanderers Manager: “This is a very different Swindon team now – they have signed four players, three of them from Chelsea.

“We have got to be ready for a real tussle.

“We need a real full-blooded performance.”

Luke Williams, Swindon Town Head Coach: “We are excited about every game and we are positive because we know things can change in football very quickly.

“We’re ambitious and we’re working hard so the boys won’t need any extra motivation for this game because it is a good stadium and they are a big team who have been at the very top in recent history.

“Everyone will be pumped for this one.”
