REACTION: Williams - We Won't Be Taking Anything For Granted

17 October 2016

Town Head Coach Luke Williams is under no illusions as to how tough a test Eastleigh will pose but is determined to take his side on a lengthy FA Cup run this season.

The Reds were handed a trip to the Vanarama National League outfit when the draw for the First Round proper of the 2016/17 Emirates FA Cup was made earlier this evening.

Eastleigh currently sit eighth in the league table and are able to boast an experienced manager in Ronnie Moore, while they will have home advantage when the tie takes place in early November.

However, whilst Williams refuses to underestimate the Spitfires, he is eyeing a lengthy FA Cup run for Town this season.

“I’ve been at the club for just over three seasons and we’ve always played away in the First Round and so far we’ve not managed to win, so we won’t be taking anything for granted,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“They’ve got some players that have been about and some of them would certainly have played in more FA Cup games than our team.

“We expect a tough test.

“There will be a big crowd there and they will be waiting to pounce and trying to drive the team on to make it a nervy affair for us.

“I’m desperate to win at least one FA Cup game and we would like to go on a run and see how far that takes us.

“We’ll be preparing for the game in the same way we would for a League One side and trying to make sure we progress through to the next round.”
