Stewart - Only A Matter Of Time Until Results Pick Up

22 January 2017

Jordan Stewart felt Town were unlucky to have missed out on a point against Peterborough United on Saturday, but is confident a run of positive results will soon follow.

Chris Forrester’s goal just after half-time proved to be the difference between the two teams at SN1 as the Reds suffered their first defeat of 2017.

“I thought it was a bit of a scrappy game and both sides deserved a point – it wasn’t really a classic,” Stewart said.

“Unfortunately, they edged it and we were maybe a bit vulnerable on the counter-attack towards the end of the game but we had to go and push for the goal and we were unlucky not to get it.

“They were very difficult to break down and the whole of the defence and the midfield were just sitting in and they were just looking to hit us on the counter-attack – their game plan worked well.

“The performances have always been improving and we had a great result away at Bolton Wanderers last weekend, so it is unfortunate that we haven’t been able to follow that up but the morale is high in the camp and hopefully in the coming weeks we will be able to get a few more positive results.

“We’ve just got to keep working hard and hopefully that pays off because we are all working hard to put that right and it is only a matter of time really.”

Stewart made his long-awaited return to first-team football as a second-half substitute yesterday and the attacker is now hoping his bad luck with injuries is behind him.

“It is always hard coming on as a sub and I haven’t played many games in the last three or four months, but I’m just happy to be back on the pitch and it is something to build on for myself.

“I’m starting to feel back to my best now.

“I have had a lot of bad luck so I’m hoping to get a bit of good luck now and I’ve been working very hard to come back from my injury, so hopefully it will pay off.”
