TEAM NEWS: Kasim Has Chance Of Featuring Against Luton

5 December 2016

Town Head Coach Luke Williams has given an injury update ahead of his side’s Checkatrade Trophy tie against Luton Town at The County Ground on Tuesday (7.45pm Kick-Off).

ON YASER KASIM:

“We think that he’s got a chance. We’re hoping that he comes through well today.”

ON BRANDON ORMONDE-OTTEWILL:

“Brandon’s injury is nothing too major but whether or not we chance him in the game is a decision for later on today.”

ON JORDAN STEWART:

“He had the surgery and he now has to get through the rehabilitation before he starts to train fully again, so it is hard to put a timescale on his return.”

ON TOM SMITH’S SUSPENSION:

“We wanted Tom to be involved tomorrow but with the rules of the competition we can’t put him out there.

“It is a shame but it just gives an opportunity to somebody else to go and see if they can show something.”

ON JAMIE SENDLES-WHITE:

“I think he is where you would expect him to be in his recovery. It is agonising for Jamie but I saw him walking in this morning and he’s walking slowly, but the last time I saw him walk down that corridor he had a full knee brace on and crutches and couldn’t put any weight through the foot, so in that short space of time to now be able to weight bear and be able to walk without crutches or without a brace is huge progress.

“He just needs to continue on that path now and try not to put a timescale on it because you could end up being disappointed.

“There is a lot of hard work ahead for Jamie but it is pleasing to see him taking steps forward.

“He’s doing brilliantly well and we’re all going to support him because he’s earned that from us.”

ON TEAM SELECTION FOR TOMORROW’S GAME:

“We’ll most likely play a mixture tomorrow. Of course, the rules stipulate that we have to play at least five from the last league game, so I think there will be probably a half-and-half split again as usual.

“Every time you are on the pitch you’ve got a chance to impress and try to force your way into the team, so tomorrow is a good opportunity for everybody involved and everyone is going to want to play at Bramall Lane on Saturday so there is extra motivation to play well tomorrow night.”
