Town in Ireland: Brophy on Shelbourne win

13 July 2016

JAMES Brophy says that the margin of victory over Shelbourne FC last night did not reflect Town’s dominant performance.

Jon Obika scored the game’s only goal to make it two wins in two for Town and Brophy believes that the tourists had controlled the game like they did against Swindon Supermarine the previous Saturday.

“As a team we controlled the game again like we did on Saturday,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk. “The scoreline probably didn’t reflect the amount of control we had on the game and the amount of chances we created - it could have been four or five but the boys are getting back into it now. We’ve had a few weeks off so there is a bit of rustiness but it was a good game.”

As Town near the half-way point of their trip to the Emerald Isle, the defender admits that the time away from Wiltshire has been a positive experience.

“It’s been good,” he said. "I’ve got an Irish background and I haven’t been in about 15 years so it’s nice to see the place and it’s been nice to get away with the boys. It’s been nice to get away from Swindon and spend some time getting to know everyone. There are a lot of boys here from last year and we’ve had a few additions so it’s been good.”

On his tour room-mate, Brad Barry, Brophy added: “We live together in Swindon and we came to the club together at the same time and we’re now sharing here so we both know each other well!”
