Vigouroux Set To Make Milestone Outing For Town Tonight

18 October 2016

Lawrence Vigouroux is looking forward to marking an important milestone for Town against Rochdale this evening.

outing for the club tonight and was in reflective mood when asked about the achievement.thThe in-form keeper looks set to make his 50

“It is something that I’ve worked hard for and hopefully I can get another 50 or 100 games under my belt,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“I’m getting more experience day-by-day so hopefully it is a stepping stone to more games and more minutes.

“I’ve worked hard for this and if I could give advice to any young player that is not really getting a sniff of the first-team it would be to come out on loan because I’ve come here, I’ve played 50 games and it means something every week.

“I feel like I’ve learnt to manage the game a lot better and that’s the most important thing.

“In an U21s game you can almost always go for the kill when you are winning 2-1 or 2-0 with ten minutes to go, but learning how to slow the game down is the most important thing that I’ve learnt here and it has helped me a lot.

“I’ve had a few good games here and I’ve had quite a few bad games, but those are the games that I learn the most from because it gives me an opportunity to put things right the following week.

“When you play well it is easier to continue to keep playing well but once you make a mistake that’s when you get really tested – I think I came through that last season and I feel I’m a better goalkeeper.”

Vigouroux will mark that milestone against Rochdale tonight who will arrive at SN1 full of confidence having racked up seven straight victories, and the stopper is expecting a tough game.

“We’ve got a young side but we showed on Saturday that we can do the dirty work as well as play the pretty football,” he added.

“That was the most pleasing thing for me because it showed to everyone that was there that we can fight if we have to fight against a bigger, stronger, aggressive team and we’ll get our chances.

“We haven’t been the best at home recently and home form is really important in this league, but there is no easy game in the Football League.

“We’ve just got to keep pushing on, keep working hard and the results will come. We’ve just got to stay together and that’s the most important thing.”
