Williams Expecting Plenty Of Energy And Spirit From AFC Wimbledon

14 October 2016

Town Head Coach Luke Williams knows that his side face a tough test in the form of AFC Wimbledon on Saturday (3pm Kick-Off).

Backed by a bumper away following, the Reds will be hoping to secure their first-ever victory at Kingsmeadow as they look for a return to winning ways in the Sky Bet League One.

However, the Dons will be full of confidence having strung together an impressive five-game unbeaten streak on the domestic front, including beating Oxford United 3-1 last time out to lift them above rivals MK Dons in the League One table for the first time in their history.

“Most teams try to play very direct and there is nothing wrong with that at all,” Williams told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“AFC Wimbledon will be a very high energy and direct team and they will put balls into the box.

“There is nothing wrong with that and we need to be able to cope with that – that is part of football.

“This team, as we’ve seen so many times recently, have got some momentum from being promoted together, they’ve got a way of playing and they all know each other’s jobs and know their own job.

“They had a sticky start but they are now into their flow, so I expect to play a very well organised team with a lot of energy and a lot of team spirit.”

There will be a bumper away following backing Town tomorrow and Williams wants to reward their loyalty with three points.

“It is down to us to answer the critics by winning games – that’s the only way.

“No one is interested in the reasons and they are not overly interested in the style of play or whether or not we were deserving of this, that and the other.

“Ultimately, they want us to win and the only way we can keep them happy is to win games of football.”
