Williams - Fast Start Against Fleetwood Is Key

16 December 2016

Town Head Coach Luke Williams wants a fast start from his side on Saturday as they look to start the festive period with a bang.

The Reds welcome Fleetwood Town to SN1 tomorrow (3pm Kick-Off) and Williams believes a positive start to the game will be key to his team's hopes of securing all three points.

“It is so important to try and take points in all the games over Christmas, but of course you feel you’ve got more chance of doing that in a home game,” he said.

“Speaking to people in football, Uwe Rosler is excellent at what he does and I don’t think that is going to come as a shock to anybody.

“He will no doubt have the team very well organised and everybody will know what is expected of them because he will make that very, very clear.

“I should think there’s a lot of organisation and structure to the way that they train and the way they go about their business, so I can’t imagine that there’s going to be anything given to us easily.

“There’s been a lot of investment at Fleetwood and they’ve got a new training facility which helps you go about your work day in and day out.

“They are a club who are very ambitious and are trying to get themselves ready for Championship football, so I’m not surprised to see them where they are and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them finish in the play-off places.

“The message to the players is going to be to start quickly and try and take the game by the scruff of the neck and get the job done and the points in the bag.”

Williams also outlined the schedule for his side over the festive period.

“We’ll be in Christmas Day to make sure we prepare properly for the Boxing Day fixture, we don’t want to take anything for granted or take a risk,” he added.

“It is pretty much a normal schedule leading up to Christmas and then of course it is just about recovery and then preparing for the next game after that.”
