Williams Looks Ahead To AFC Wimbledon Clash

13 April 2017

Town Head Coach Luke Williams spoke to members of the local media on Wednesday ahead of his side’s Good Friday clash against AFC Wimbledon. Here's what he had to say...

“Neal Ardley knows his team very, very well and how to get the best out of them and he’s proved that,” he said.

“To come up and stabilise and become a good solid side in League One in your first season at this level is brilliant.

“There won’t be any loose change for us and we will have to make sure that we bring our best to the table in order to get anything from this side.

“Neal Ardley will be telling his players to make sure that they keep their standards high, to make sure that they respect their fans and they will be looking to close off their season in style in order to build momentum for next year.

“That’s the type of manager that he is, he’s professional and it is unfortunate for us because we would like to play against a team who are already on holiday, but that’s not the case because there are too many good professionals.

“There is a focus around the squad and the players are at it every day. I’ve been very impressed with them in training and they believe that we will be fine come the end of the season.”

Town have four games left in which to secure League One safety and Williams has once again stressed that everyone is up for the cause.

“We’ve put the maximum amount of pressure on ourselves that we possibly could, but we’ve responded well in recent weeks and we’ve reacted well when we seemed to be completely all at sea,” he added.

“We were seven points from safety at one point but at the moment we are only three points from safety, so we’re trying and fighting.

“That point last weekend was valuable because we are one win away from potentially catching people and maybe even climbing out of the relegation zone, so that was huge.

“We have to continue to be in every single game and make sure that we give ourselves the very best possible chance of getting all the points.”
