Williams Looks Ahead To Sheffield United Test

14 March 2017

Town Head Coach Luke Williams is well aware of the quality that Sheffield United possess but feels his side have every chance to claim the three points later.

The Reds host the Sky Bet League One leaders this evening at The County Ground (7.45pm Kick-Off) and Williams has urged his team to concentrate on what they do best.

“I don’t fear anybody to the extent that I don’t believe we can win. There is a healthy fear, particularly of Sheffield United because I know they are a very, very good team,” he said.

“They’ve got a very good manager and support staff and I was very impressed when we went there in December in terms of the way the team played and the way the staff were.

“I know tonight is going to be very tough and I know the fixtures afterwards are very tough, but when you get to Port Vale and even Coventry City, who are bottom of the league, the pitches are very, very difficult and it can be equally as tough to play in that situation as well.

“There’s no reason why we should overly fear anyone in this division, but of course it goes without saying that Sheffield United are at one end of the division for one reason and we’re at the other end for another reason.

“They have got experience and quality in every single position and they’ve got power, they’ve got pace and they’ve got goals.

“They are a very complete team, certainly for League One.

“They are strong in every position and there are not many places where you can target a weakness.

“We are aware of them and the players have watched footage, but we will try and get our own house in order as best as we can which is always the most important thing.

“We need to be aware of the opposition but we need to perform as best as we can ourselves and that will give us a chance.

“We’ve taken that approach and we’ve given ourselves every single opportunity to win the last five games, so we need to get that bit right, make less mistakes and be aware of two very key things that Sheffield United do.”
