Ajose: Close Range Goals My 'Bread & Butter'

20 February 2016

NICKY Ajose admits that goals from inside the six-yard box are his staple diet as a centre-forward after netting a hat-trick to help Town to a 3-2 win over Blackpool at the County Ground.

Speaking to the media after the game, the frontman said that Town conceding twice against the Seasiders wasn't good enough.

"I didn’t think it was set right to go first time," he said of the goal that sealed his treble. "So I took a couple of touches and managed to put it in the bottom corner.

"That (goals from close range) are my bread and butter - I get a lot of stick from the lads saying I'm scoring tap-ins but no-one scored 20 goals a season just scoring goals from outside the box."

"Obviously it’s a good spectacle for the fans but we need to be keeping zero - two from set pieces is not good enough."

He added: "We had a bit of a tricky spell but that’s two on the bounce now. We're ten points off the Play-Offs and nine points off the relegation zone so we’re stuck right in the middle but we’ve got our eyes set on stringing a run together."
