Cooper Pleased With Progression

1 September 2015

MARK Cooper reflected on the win at Newport after his side needed penalties to secure their place in round two of the JPT.

On progressing to the next round...
We had to play without a recognised striker, we dominated possession but without creating chanaces and we scored a brilliant goal but, the longer it goes without a striker, they can get themselves out then a bit of a slip cost the goal but I'm pleased we got through. You’ve got to go and play - we never complain, just get on with it. We got on with it, the boys did themselves justice. We had a brilliant following tonight and we gave them something to shout about.

On the display...
Possession-wise we were good but we were hampered for options. They put a real effort in and got the club into the next round.

On debutants James Brophy and Bradley Barry...
We got to do a bit of work with them yesterday. They can be pleased. It's difficult when you come into a team - if you’re a squad player, it’s easier when you come into a team that’s a bit disjointed. You have to be extra good to make that opportunity count.

On the penalities...
We didn’t practise penalties. The boys that took the penalties all wanted to take one.
