Cooper: I Thought We Were Outstanding

16 August 2014

MANAGER Mark Cooper spoke to the media after Town's 1-0 defeat at Crawley.

On the penalty...
I've just seen it and the referee is just inside our half of the pitch when Louis Thompson makes contact with the ball. He gives the penalty from the halfway line so, whether it's a penalty or not, I don't see how he can make a decision from there. You know by the referee's reaction at the end. He couldn't wait to give it.

On the performance...
Let's talk about our performance. I thought we were outstanding. It was a one-sided game. We dominated the football. We can't play that well and lose many games - that's the lesson for the players. You can't create that many things round the box and not win. The final ball was not good enough around the box. We judge our performances and ours today was top draw. I said to the players at half time "don't take liberties and defend properly". We'll look at our performance today and go away from here knowing we've played very well.

On the result...
You saw the reaction from our supporters - they were tremendous at the end. It's just a freak that we haven't got a result today. We're thoroughly happy with our performance.
