Cooper: It Was A Fantastic Spectacle

20 September 2014

TOWN Manager, Mark Cooper, spoke to the media after his side's 5-2 win over Sheffield United.

On the performance...
I thought in the first half we were fantastic. We totally controlled 45 minutes of football, the only downside is that it was only 1-0. We got 3-0 up then we let them back in and after what happened at Colchester (on Tuesday night) you're thinking the worst but fair play - that is as well as we've played. We could be sat here with a point. It was a fantastic spectacle, we played some fantastic football. It was a good three points for us.

On goals conceded...
It should never happen. Two crosses into the box, it's too easy and nobody is marking. We'll talk about the positives - the football was outstanding, we scored some good goals and it must have been a great game to watch.

On the learning curve...
At 3-2 everyone is thinking 'we know whats going to happen'. We had to do something to change the momentum of the game. I keep saying that the young players keep learning. (At 3-0 up) they have to learn to make sure they don't concede.

On the goalscorers...
I thought they were all tremendous today. The first goal was fantastic. It was a brilliant finish. We could easily have left him (Michael Smith) out today but we know what he's going to give us. We know we've got Willo waiting in the wings. We have to try and manage it properly. As long as they're all fresh and when they do go on they're a real handful.
