Cooper: We Weren't At Our Best

16 September 2014

Mark Cooper spoke to the media after Town's 2-2 draw with Oldham at The County Ground.

On the result..
We toiled to get in front and when you're in front that late on you should see it out but we didn't do enough to win the game. Let's give Oldham credit. We weren't at our best tonight, we didn't play with any fluency. We got dragged into kicking the ball long and we're not set up for that. We got away from our principles and we saw the result of that but we still got a point. We have to be better on Saturday.

On the performance...
I thought we looked tired but that could be down to Oldham - they worked extremely hard but we still got a point. We could easily have lost that game.

On goals scored...
That's three goals now from three corners. We're not renowned for scoring goals from set pieces but the second goal was a stunning strike from Andy Williams. Andy is a confidence striker and that will hopefully give him confidence going forward.

On the impact of substitutes...
When you make subs you look for impact and both (our changes) gave us an impetus. Our best spell was the last 10/15 minutes when we looked like we could open them up.

On the work ahead...
Teams are not going to come and lie down. They're going to come and fight and work hard and force us into mistakes. We have to be braver with the ball and work it out to make sure we find the right pass.
