TOWN midfielder Ben Gladwin has put pen to paper on a new contract at SN1 until the end of the 2016/17 season.

Speaking to the official website shortly after signing, the former Marlow man was delighted to have secured an extended stay in Wiltshire. "I'm buzzing," he said. "It's a really good feeling and I'm really enjoying my football at the moment. I think this is a good place for me to carry on developing."

“I’ve come a really long way. Just over a year ago I was working in removals so I guess I’m living the dream. Now, I just have to keep working hard and build on what I’ve already learned. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve managed to score a goal and create goals too. I want to add to that, score a few more goals and keep setting them up.

“It’s a fantastic squad to join, really easy to settle in and I think that’s why we work so well together on the pitch. I’m just looking forward to the rest of this season and the rest of my time at the club.”

Swindon Chairman, Lee Power, echoed the midfielder's sentiments.

Power said: "I am delighted Ben has agreed to a long-term deal to stay at our club. We are at the start of a very long and hopefully successful journey and Ben is one of the many young players at the club that we feel has the potential and ability to go the whole journey with us. We have always known that Ben has exceptional ability and we just had to be a little bit patient with him while he adjusted to full-time training and waited to get a run in the team. I think over the past few weeks Ben has really started to show us all a glimpse of what he is capable of and I expect him to keep developing and progressing. I think he is going to be a fantastic player for this club for many seasons to come and I am so pleased that he has bought into our vision and committed himself to us until 2017.

“I said that Nathan Thompson signing was a huge day for the club - I felt securing him would make it easier to convince the other players to sign because the group hold him in such high esteem and would think that if Nathan would rather stay with us, within our wage structure than leave on a free in the summer for a Championship club, shows how much belief Nathan has got in our project. As soon as I spoke to Ben about signing he just said "when can I sign, Chairman?" which pleased me so much".
