Valley return for Hollands

1 February 2013

MIDFIELDER Danny Hollands has returned to his parent club Charlton Athletic.

The 27-year old midfielder signed for Town in November before extending the deal to keep him at The County Ground until Saturday 2nd February.

He scored twice in ten league appearances for the club but suffered a fifth metatarsal injury in the home win over Shrewsbury Town, which was his last appearance in a Swindon shirt.

The middleman has now returned to Charlton where he will receive further treatment. The club would like to thank Danny for his efforts and wish him well for the future.

Hollands started out with Chelsea and signed professional terms at Stamford Bridge in November 2003, but didn't make a first-team appearance as the West London club's aspirations skyrocketed following the arrival of Roman Abramovich.

His first taste of first-team action came on loan at Torquay United, for whom he played ten times at the end of 2005/06, when he helped the Gulls seal their survival in League Two.

And after being released by Chelsea that summer, he joined Bournemouth, where he established a reputation as a classy midfielder with an eye for the spectacular. He made over 200 appearances during a successful stay with the Cherries before a move to Charlton, signing a three-year deal, in the summer of 2011.

He made 14 appearances this season for Chris Powell’s side before making his Swindon debut against against Yeovil Town.
