LW: It's a relief

23 April 2016

LUKE Williams spoke to the media after Town's 1-0 win over Chesterfield.

On the win...
It’s a relief and it's pleasing the manner in which we've played - the last two games in particular. I thoroughly enjoyed the last two games. I felt the club was represented very well with the style of play and the commitment of the players.

On reasons behind the turnaround in fortunes...
It's as simple as having the best players all together and it shows. We’re much closer to where we were when we were winning games consistently.

On the performance...
I'm sure the players will agree to have 60% of the ball and 20 attempts on goal is an enjoyabble way to play football. We feel like it’s a good style to adopt. Sometimes it can give you the iullusion that we’re playing slowly but the truth is there is a team of athletes in front that are shutting spaces down and trying to lure us into a loose pass so they can counter-attack. I think for the most part the boys resisted that very well.

On the goal...
Bradley Barry tries to use a disguised cross to commit two defenders and allow Yaser to have the room to put the ball onto the left side of his body and open the goal up. It was very clever and there was some significantly good play before that as well.

On the remainder of the season...
We’ve learnt that putting too many players in at the same time lacking experience is not necessarily the best way - it was a case of needs must (earlier in the season) but in the last two games we want to maintain a high level of performance.
