Report: STLFC Downed By Forest

7 March 2016

NOTTINGHAM FOREST - 2
SWINDON TOWN - 0

The Town were beaten in the quarter final of the FA Women’s Premier League Cup when they visited Nottingham Forest and were beaten by two goals to nil, writes Roger Reeves.

Play was restricted to the midfield with neither side able to create many openings. Play ebbed and flowed and the Town were certainly matching their Premier League North opponents. The deadlock was broken in the 38th minute when Elizabeth Bell’s shot took a deflection to find the net.

The Town changed formations but could not find an opening for that equalising goal. Forest were desperately defending their one-goal advantage, but seven minutes from time Forest got a second when Annabel McKerhine turned Elizabeth Bell’s cross into the net.

A spirited performance from the Town against a side from a division above, who are favourites to win their league.
