Report: Swindon Supermarine 0-3 Town

13 July 2014

TOWN secured their second pre-season friendly victory in as many days with a 3-0 success at Swindon Supermarine.

A strong starting XI took to the field for the first half and made the breakthrough early on through Michael Smith. Good work from Andy Williams on the right saw him pick out his strike partner who controlled the ball before turning and slamming it into the net.

Before half time, Massimo Luongo added his second in as many games with another well-taken strike. Driving forward from midfield, the Australian calmly picked his spot from 20 yards and guided the ball into the corner of the goal.

After the break, nine changes to the playing personnel initially yielded no goals but, after seeing an own goal ruled out by an offside flag, trialist Kalil Lambin rounded off the victory with an effort of his own: anticipating a headed back-pass, the striker raced onto the loose ball and poked it over the stranded goalkeeper.

Town could have added to their tally late on but Will Randall blazed over when well-placed.
