Sam Allen Grave Restoration and Service

8 October 2014

RESTORATION of the grave of former Town manager, Sam Allen has now been completed.

A service to mark this event will be held at St Saviour’s Church near the Radnor Street Cemetery at 1.30pm on Thursday 9th October. Officials from Swindon Town will be in attendance.

The Club Chaplain, Simon Stevenette, will perform a short re-consecration ceremony before the service and those who wish will be able to visit the grave afterwards for an act of remembrance.

All involved with the project would like to thank Johnson & Daltrey, the Swindon Town Supporters Club, Swindon Town Supporters Trust, Swindon Financial Services, Robins Remembered and the Wiltshire FA not to mention all the individuals who sent in cheques or contributed to collections in the Sponsors Lounges.

Without their generous sponsorship the project would not have been possible. Thanks are also due to Mrs Chapman, the widow of Sam’s grandson and her sons not only for the financial support they have given the project but for the interest shown in getting the work done in a way that the family are happy with.

Last but not least, thanks to Jim Turner, who has worked tirelessly to find financial support and keep the project moving to a successful conclusion.
