Supermarine 1 Town 3

2 July 2013

SWINDON Town opened their pre-season campaign with a 3-1 win at neighbours Swindon Supermarine on Tuesday evening.

The Robins fielded a different side in each half, with the exception of Paul Caddis who was the only member of the starting eleven to continue into the second period.

The game offered manager Kevin MacDonald the chance to assess Banbury United trio Kynen Isaac, Albi Skendi and Ade Talabi - with all three featuring in the first half.

Town had to wait until the 43rd minute for the opening goal with Luke Rooney, playing as a central midfielder, carving open the home defence to drive home from the edge of the box with a low strike.

James Collins doubled the lead from close range early in the second half from a Nathan Thompson cross before Andy Williams made it 3-0 with a neat turn and shot.

Rob Dean grabbed a goal back for the hosts with a spectacular strike from the edge of the box on 70 minutes, but the goal proved to be a consolation in an otherwise comfortable pre-season run-out for Town.

Swindon Town: Yannick Nlate; Jack Barthram, Paul Caddis, Darren Ward, Matty Jones; Kynan Isaac, Alan Navarro, Luke Rooney, Kayden Jackson; Ade Talabi, Albi Skandi
