Town sign Woking midfielder, Goddard

13 May 2016

SWINDON Town are delighted to announce the signing of Woking midfielder John Goddard for an undisclosed fee, subject to Football League and FA approval.

Goddard has agreed a three-year deal at SN1 with the club having a further year’s option on the player.

Once on the books at Reading, the 22-year-old signed for the Cards in September 2013 and has gone on to become a key member of the squad, hitting the 20-goal mark from midfield over the course of 2015/16.

Chairman, Lee Power said: “We were aware of the number of clubs interested in signing the player and we are delighted to have finally secured John’s signature with him being one of the hottest properties in non-league football.

“From the moment we were given permission to speak with the player and agree terms, Woking have been absolutely first class in their handling of the situation. I have been mightily impressed with the professional way in which Geoff Chapple has dealt with myself and it will be fitting for me to bring Swindon Town to Woking in pre-season to allow John to say farewell to his beloved fans.’’

Woking manager, Garry Hill added: "John has been outstanding for me and of course, the club. He is well grounded and conducts himself brilliantly both on and off the pitch. He has had a fantastic season and for a midfield player to get the amount of goals he has, it’s no wonder that so many clubs were chasing his signature."
