Town sign Ranger

16 August 2013

SWINDON Town FC are delighted to announce the signing of Nile Ranger on a one year deal with an option for a further year extension.

The Club believes that Nile has all the hallmarks of being a huge asset to Swindon Town.  His international record for England’s Under 19s  - six goals in 11 games during the 2010 season  – together with his considerable potential and experience of playing both in the Premier League and as part of Newcastle United’s 2009/10 Championship title-winning team will add invaluable experience and weight to the squad.

STFC are aware of the ongoing legal situation concerning Nile and the terms negotiated and agreed by both parties are conditional upon Nile being acquitted of the charges he is currently facing.

“Having met the Chairman and heard his vision for the Club, I know exactly what is required of me and I look forward to getting my career back on track,” he said. “There was strong interest in me from other clubs in the Championship and League One but, despite the offer of more money, I feel that Swindon Town will give me a solid platform to realise my potential and help me from going off the rails. I want to do my talking on the pitch and perform to the level I know I can.”

He continued: “It is time to clean up my act. I want to channel my energies back into football and feel the discipline and environment of the Club will enable me to do this.

“There is a great buzz around the place. I have been given another chance and am looking forward to smashing in goals for Swindon Town.

“I would like to ask the Swindon fans to give me a chance. I’m sure I’ll repay their faith by scoring goals like a proper number nine should.”

Nile's registration has been approved by the Football League and he will be included in the Town squad to face Shrewsbury Town in League One tomorrow afternoon.
