SWINDON Town’s squad has been bolstered with the arrival of three new signings following the lifting of the transfer embargo.
The Robins have agreed to sign three Tottenham Hotspur players with defender Nathan Byrne joined by midfielders Dean Parrett and Massimo Luongo on loan until the end of the 2012/13 campaign.
Nathan Byrne
The 20-year old Spurs Academy graduate can play in a variety of positions across the back four and in midfield. Hertfordshire-born, Byrne spent two years as a scholar at White Hart Lane and was a consistent performer during the 2009/10 Premier Academy League campaign. His first taste of League One football came with a loan spell at Brentford in the second half of the 2010/11 campaign where he made 11 senior appearances. Byrne made a return to League One football the following campaign with 13 appearances for AFC Bournemouth. He has played in League One this season with a 15-game spell at Crawley Town after joining the Red Devils in September, returning to his parent Club in January.
Massimo Luongo
A central midfielder, the 20-year old joined Tottenham Hotspur in January 2011. He made his first team debut in the Carling Cup tie at Stoke City in September 2011 as the tie went to penalties after a goalless draw. A driving force in midfield, he played six times in the NextGen Series in 2011/12 and joined Ipswich Town for a season-long loan in the Championship in August 2012. He scored his first goal for the Portman Road side in a Capital One Cup tie at Carlisle United in late August and made a total of 11 appearances during his stay with the Tractorboys.
Dean Parrett
21-year old Parrett arrives at The County Ground with UEFA Cup experience to his name. The midfielder started for Spurs in February 2009 for their UEFA Cup tie against Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine, playing 89 minutes of the game before being replaced by a player well-known to Town fans - John Bostock. Parrett then came off the bench to feature in the final moments of the second leg at White Hart Lane a week later. He also has Football League experience under his belt following loan spells at Aldershot Town, Plymouth Argyle, Charlton Athletic and Yeovil Town. During his Academy days he represented England in the European Under-19 Championships in France, earning many plaudits for his displays as the Young Lions reached the semi-finals. He also had the honour of being named in the provisional 20-man squad for the 2009 Carling Cup Final against Manchester United at Wembley.
