Vigouroux: Worth A Point

8 February 2016

LAWRENCE Vigouroux believes that Town’s performance against Gillingham deserved the point that they earned at the Priestfield Stadium on Saturday.

“It was a very tough game,” he said. “We knew from the warm up that it would be a tough game so we came to a place where the team is flying high in the league and we ground out a good draw. I’m happy with the team - we were more than worth a point here."

Speaking after the game, the stopper admitted that the windy conditions had made things difficult for both teams, adding: “(we had to) be confident and composed and try and stay on top of the defenders and try to adjust to what were very strong conditions.”

The Liverpool loanee also paid tribute to the defensive quartet in front of him.

“I thought we were exceptional at the back,” he concluded. “Nathan Thompson and Jordan Turnbull were sensational and made the game easy for me, to be fair. I think it helps having a leader like Nathan back in the side. He’s done well since he’s come back and I’m happy to be playing alongside him.”
