Williams: A Little Bit Frustrated

2 February 2016

LUKE Williams spoke to the media after Town's 1-0 defeat at Port Vale.

On the defeat...
I think we created chances to score so a little bit frustrated. I thought we created some good opportunities for Jon (Obika) and on a different night, I'm sure they go in. We're not the type of team that we’re going to sit and wait for a set piece and see if we can steal something. We’re going to take the game even more aggressively to the opposition. You do leave yourself vulnerable but that’s the way we play - we take the game home and away to the opposition.

On the goal...
I find it difficult to accept the goal. It's a set piece - people have clear instructions from set pieces. If you don’t respect that and take your eye off the player you're marking, you're going to concede goals so, disappointed with that.

On the changes in personnel...
We knew Raphael (Rossi-Branco) wasn’t going to play but Jordan Turnbull travelled with the squad and complained of a sore hamstrong so was withdrawn from squad quite late. Michael (Doughty) has shown incredible character. He stepped up and I thought he equipped himself very well. Rapha and Jordan have a chance of being fit (for Saturday). Rapha has a small injury to his groin that, had he played tonight, could have been made worse - the same with Jordan Turnbull. Nicky Ajose is very unfortunate. He took a knock in the last game and showed signs of concussion. There's a protocol we have to follow so we had to withdraw him from the squad.

On Jordan Young...
I think he showed tremendous composure for a young player. He's got real qualities from what I've seen. As he develops we could be looking at someone really special.
