Williams Disappointed With Late Goal

30 January 2016

TOWN Manager, Luke Williams spoke to the media after the 1-0 home defeat to Barnsley.

On the defeat...
Obviously we're very disappointed to have conceded so late. We have been conceding goals of late at home and we tried to address that. We looked solid and I couldn't see them scoring but to concede so late is very disappointing. We need to learn that it suits us to be a very aggressive attacking team - we musn't get away from that. We need a fine balance and make sure we're not too aggressive that we're leaking goals and not become too concerned with defending that we don't attack properly. It's always give and take - when you're trying to be more solid at one end you're not quite as creative at the other. I think we did enough to come away with a point but I feel we could have been crisper in the final third. At times it was a little bit sloppy but we warranted enough to earn a point.

On the change in formation...
It's something we've done before - it's the formation we used most often last season. Nathan (Thompson) is comfortable there and in some ways it made us stronger at the back.

On the lack of clean sheet...
It's very frustrating. It's much more frustrating when you don't have a clean sheet and you don't win - when you come off as a winner it softens the blow a bit.

On Bradley Barry's second half absence...
Brad got up to walk out of the changing room and tried to compose himself but felt a bit dizzy. He's still suffering from symptoms of a migraine.

On James Brophy's performance...
We've got full confidence in James. He's going to develop into a fantastic player. He's tactically aware although he's not been in the team recently.
