On the defeat...
We didn't look enough of a goal threat this evening. We were able to get some control on a difficult pitch to play on. We needed to control as much as we could knowing we were quite lightweight up front. You can see the quality we’re missing with Nicky Ajose or the power and skill of Jon Obika to create a chance on his own. We had some good spells but we didn’t do enough with it.
On Nicky Ajose's absense...
Nicky pulled out of training yesterday complaining of a sore hamstring. We’ve had to scan the muscle and get a couple of different opinions to see exactly what the problem is. Often we can't diagnose these things until 48 hours after the event. Hopefully we should be a bit clearer tomorrow. We trained with Nicky to be involved and it was at the end of training he complained of feeling tight so the two (Jermaine Hylton and Ellis Iandolo) didn’t really get a chance to work too much together. I think for Ellis it’s a very new experience for him. It (Oldham) is a tough place to come and play at the best of times but if you're lacking in experience it can be overwhelming. Jermaine is trying to lead the line on his own and probably needs an experienced striker alongside him.
On goals conceded...
I was very disappointed that we don’t mark in the box for the first goal. It's something we've been good at in the past and a lack of concentration to allow someone to score so easily in the box is very disappointing. The second goal I need to watch again. It takes forever to come in and I'm worried that people are getting caught up in this 'pantomime' (before the kick is taken). That’s worrying for me because I don’t want the players losing their concentration. It’s a simple case of having experience and being able to be in control of your emotions all the time and black out everything else around you.
On the inclusion of youth team scholar, Jake Evans on the bench...
I've been watching Jake quite a lot and talk to Scott Lindsey a lot about his squad. He's showed lots of quality, he's a very determined and a very ambitious young player and he's been rewarded with a place in the first team squad (tonight).
