Williams: Players' Attitude First Class

27 February 2016

LUKE Williams spoke to the media after Town's 2-1 win over Peterborough.

On the turnaround and three points...
I think it (the most pleasing aspect of the win) is seeing the group of players at half-time - how focused they were, no panic there. They left the changing room feeling they’d change it round and to see them carry that out was very impressive and pleasing. We didn’t do too much wrong. I thought Peterborough were outstanding. We knew there would be a reaction and I think they showed that tremendous energy in the team and we struggled to cope with them. We made changes in shape but really it's the players that got to grips with their energy, matched it and went one better. Jamie (Sendles-White) played well and showed us what qualities he has but we know Jordan and Nathan very well - it's impossible to replace them so we stayed with them and put an extra midfielder in there to cope with Peterborough's midfield. The most significant (aspect) was the players' attitude to having 15 minutes to focus on a challenging first half. The adjustments made some difference but it's down to those boys.

On Nicky Ajose's free-kick...
There's no grey area with that one! Tremendous technique and confidence. He worked on it and he convinced us that he could be on free kicks. It's not something I've seen a great deal of but he's been telling everyone he has no doubt he can score from that distance. It just adds to his repertoire of scoring goals.

On Peterborough's disallowed goal...
Football is about small margins and it could have been different had that goal been allowed but having said that, luck was maybe in our favour and we took full advantage.
