Williams: Trio's potential return a timely boost

15 April 2016

LUKE Williams is hoping that Jon Obika, Yaser Kasim and Nicky Ajose will be involved in the matchday squad against Bury on Saturday.

Speaking to the media in the build-up to the game, Town's Head Coach admitted that Swindon had adapted their style to fit their available players in recent weeks but anticipates a return to a more familiar-looking Swindon Town as sidelined players step-up their comebacks from injury.

“I’m hoping that Jon Obika will be back involved, I’m hoping that Yaser Kasim will be back involved and I’m hoping that Nicky Ajose will be involved,” he said. “It would be a big boost to see some of those boys either on the pitch or even on the bench and in the changing rooms. We were in very good form and we’ve had the stuffing knocked out of us losing some key players then being on the wrong end of results so it would be a timely boost these guys coming back.

“I think we’ve had to change a few things because some of the players that have gone out of the team have got skills that are very difficult to replicate. We’ve had to adapt and we probably tried to be exactly the same team (but) changing five players. We’ve identified that we’ve got to be a slightly different team because players coming in have got a different set of skills and different experience. We’ve had to change a little bit to try and be more competitive and I think with players coming back into the side we may look more like Swindon Town at their best.

"The only thing that we should be able to guarantee is that the fans can expect the players to work very hard for the shirt, to run and shut people down, try to break the lines, try to get into the box and be determined to score.“
